SVOM press release from CNES, with contributions from CNRS and CEA

The SVOM mission, dedicated to the study of the most distant stellar explosions, is entering its operational phase.

The verification phase of the French-Chinese space mission SVOM, dedicated in particular to the detection and study of the most distant stellar explosions or mergers—gamma-ray bursts—has concluded with very promising initial results. A joint effort by the two national space agencies, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) and the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES), with major contributions from the CEA and CNRS on the French side, SVOM is now entering its operational phase.
